Satsuko is a design researcher, strategist, and writer.
Satsuko has been navigating culture all her life. Growing up in a dual nationality home, and toggling between living in Canada and Japan, she learned early on about adapting to different ways of thinking and behaving in the world. She went on to live and work in eleven cities across 6 countries before landing in Toronto. It's these experiences that have fuelled her fascination with how different people see the world, and with what shapes, influences, and shifts these perspectives.
Satsuko is a Design Researcher at Normative, a Toronto-based software innovation firm where she translates user insights into actionable design opportunities. Prior to Normative, Satsuko was a Partner and Director at InWithForward, a research and design firm that builds and implements new social support services from scratch—with policymakers, frontline workers, and service users. Before that, Satsuko was Manager of the Lab Program at Social Innovation Generation (National), a think tank that works to bolster social and public innovation capacity across Canada.
Satsuko holds an MBA from Schulich School of Business, a BBA from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, a Certificate in Social Research Methods from London School of Economics, and is a forever student of the world.
